FAQ

What are the required vaccinations for DOGS to board in the kennel?

Proof of current vaccination is mandatory for all canine guests. This is to be administered at least 5 days prior to boarding by your veterinarian. We require proof of vaccination for Distemper/Parvo combo (DAPPV) and Bordetella (sometimes referred to as Canine Cough). All dogs over 4 months of age must have proof of Rabies vaccination. Lepto vaccination and a parasite prevention product are strongly recommended. Flea prevention of some sort also strongly recommended for all guests prior to boarding between April – October.

What is Kennel Cough (also known as Canine Cough)?

Kennel cough is a highly contagious canine respiratory infection similar to a common cold in humans.  The Bordetella vaccine does not cover all strains, so it is possible for your dog to contract a respiratory infection in any group setting or location where other dogs have been such as parks, sidewalks, grooming facilities, veterinary clinics, training facilities, pet stores and kennels. We do what we can to keep dogs healthy but with kennel cough having an incubation period we don’t always know that kennel cough is spreading.  For more information please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kennel_cough

Is my dog allowed to come if they are not neutered/spayed?

Yes! Socialization will depend on how they react to friends and how friends react to them. If a female is in heat, her socialization will be limited.

How many times will my dog(s) get to go outside?
  • Typically our guests go outside roughly 6 times a day. This is approximate and can change based on our schedule, weather and if we have a large number of dogs that need a wash before going home. A perfect schedule goal is to go outside every 2 hours for 1 hour of play.
What are your pick up and drop off hours over the holidays?

Stat Holidays except Christmas & New Years are the same as our weekend hours 8:30-10:30am, 1-1:30pm and 4-6pm.

Christmas Eve and New Years Eve, our times will be shorter.

Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day our times are 9-10am and 4-5pm.

How many dogs can you board in your facility?

We have 29 kennels in our facility, but lots of families come with more then one dog sharing the same kennel, so our numbers vary.

Are the kennels heated in the Winter? Do you have air conditioning in the summer?

Yes to both! We have above heating and in floor heat for cold days and air conditioning for those hot summer months.

How big are the dog kennels?

The Standard and Deluxe Rooms are approximately 5’x8′. The Super Deluxe Rooms are approximately 7’x12′.

What do I bring when I drop my dog off for boarding? What do you provide?

The only thing that you need to bring for your dog is food.  You are welcome to bring other things such as bed, blankets, toys, treats, article of clothing from yourself , but please know that this is at your own risk of being destroyed or lost.

We supply food dishes, blankets, beef liver treats, beds. If your dog needs a specific bowl or elevated feeder, you will need to bring that along.

Do you provide grooming services?

As part of our services, we provide basic grooming—including baths and nail trims—whenever our schedule allows. These services are charged per dog/per service.

Are there discounts available for my stay?

Long term boarding discounts are given to guests who exceed a 10 night consecutive vacation. All nights after the 10th will receive a 20% off discount.

My dog is not well socialized, will he/she be in a group?

Your dog will be assessed and we will decide from there.  If your dog shows aggression, they will not be put into a group.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We except cash, cheque or etransfer.

What are your hours of operation and do you have specific drop-off and pick-up times?

Pick up and drop off times are as follows:

Monday – Friday – 7-10:30am, 1-1:30pm, and 4-6pm.

Saturday, Sunday and Holidays – 8:30-10:30am, 1-1:30pm and 4-6pm.

Someone is on site starting at 7am-6pm everyday.  But we don’t always promise that a person is there the whole time (breaks, lunch, emergencies, etc.).  Someone is also on site for an hour each evening for the before bed time.

Messages are only answered by a couple of individuals.  We try to get to messages at least once a day (there is the odd time that the day does not go as planned and messages are delayed to a longer period of time).

Why do you have specific pick and drop off times?

Most of our focus during the day is based around the dogs getting enough outside time.  But we also have general cleaning, laundry, meals, breaks, paperwork, cleaning of dogs, meet and greets and tours to fit into our day.  We have specific pickup and drop off times to work with our day and so we can plan accordingly.  We feel that our times are very fair (we added an early afternoon pickup to our routine as we found it was a long time between the morning and evening slots and wanted to make it easier for people heading home or to their destination).  Please know that if you really need a time outside of our posted hours we may be able to accommodate, but an extra $20 charge is necessary as it typically means we have to replan our day. For example, if you come to pickup your dog outside of pickup times and all staff are out supervising playtime, it is not possible for someone to leave their area unattended to checkout your pet.

My dog is on medication, do you charge extra for administering it during his stay?

We do not charge extra for medication unless it has to be given at an exact time of day.

What can I expect from my dog’s behavior and well-being after boarding or daycare?

During their stay with us, your dog will be very active, so they might come home feeling quite tired and thirsty. They often get so caught up in the fun that they forget to drink! Occasionally, some dogs return home just as energetic until they settle into the routine here. It’s also possible they might ignore you or seem upset; every dog reacts differently.
